Bought an expensive car that had a serious fault. Referred me to the manufacturer, ignored letters, referred me to the finance company and did nothing to help. Couldn't have been less interested.

Buyer Beware

I bought a lovely looking Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 3.0 Diesel from Mark Turner (MC Turner & Son Ltd) in May 2010 but was very disappointed a week later when we booked it into the local Jeep dealer to be told we'd bought a 'bad un'. The engine had a serious oil leak and, on further investigation, we discovered that the engine and gearbox had been removed and very badly re-fitted - there were sheared cylinder head bolts and fuel hoses were incorrectly routed. The drive shaft gaiters were held on by plastic cable ties!

When I contacted Mr Turner he was very helpful and actually offered us a refund. On this basis (he seemed genuinely surprised and willing to do the right thing) I accepted his offer to source an alternative vehicle for us.

This he did a few weeks later so all was well right? Wrong! Unbelievably, despite reassurances from Mr Turner that this car was perfect, a previously well-masked and unpleasant odour became very apparent and a few days later another serious oil leak was discovered.

I contacted Mr Turner again thinking how unlucky we'd both been to have 2 serious engine problems in 2 low mileage examples of what is considered to be a 'bomb proof' Mercedes sourced diesel engine. This time his attitude was somewhat less understanding and it very quickly became obvious that he didn't want to know.

I sold the car on a few weeks later, having declared the problems to the new buyer, and lost J3000 in the process.

If you want my opinion of this motor dealer I'd have to advise you to steer clear and go elsewhere.

Bought a car which I specifically wanted to be free of mechanical trouble for my teenage son. I was told that the Ford Focus they recommended was just right for our needs. It developed major problems a few days later and whilst they offered to give me a full refund, I am still waiting three weeks later, with one far fetched excuse after another, for my money back. Meanwhile the car is back on the forecourt (whaaat? while I still own it?) for J800 more than they sold to me. Either it had a lot wrong with it that they have put right, or they are hoping an even bigger mug than me will come along.

Avoid at all costs.

Bought a new car with a suppose to be five year waranty. That is until you have a problem with it then you don't have one while driving my car the safety catch on hood broke off causing a lot of damage to my car. Saltmarine didn't care less. Dealing with these people have been a nightmare so anybody thinking of giving them there custom please save yourself a lot of stress not to mention the money part and go elsewhere.

Bad bad dealer, reported problems with car done nothing about it, very rude, and intimidating, needed a reliable car, I've a sick child we have to take to hospital on a regular basis.

Told we could have money back, when we asked he laugh and ignored it, told us to go through the useless waranty company they provided.

Rude, rip off car has cost a fortune BAD BAD BAD.

Hustled by Car Chase UK- Used car dealer

I bought a car from Car Chase 5 months ago, everything seems fine until a week later I found the car started to sounds strange. The sound come from the exhaust system which can be expensive. The brake is emitting noise too after 2 weeks later and car's paint is lingering now after faded 2 weeks after bought. The car's battery failed after a month owning it. Remember to check the nuts on the rims too cause I found out after I sent the car to check the brakes that every single rim is lacked with a nut.

Worse case is there are special locks attached to the rims where I need a special tool to unlock it and the tool was not given when I bought it from Car chase. I went back to Car Chase yesterday, never asked for the reimburse for the repairs done instead just asking to unlock the car but there was totally no after sales service. The PAKISTANI guy that sold the car to me said it is not his fault and he can't help, I literary gone speechless. So after reading this, I hope you will have a good judgement before purchasing anything from CAR CHASE UK BRISTOL. Address is 421-425 Gloucester Road, Bristol. P.S the rim is leaking air too.

Incredibly rude salesman

After having booked an appointment at 10.00am this morning to view a car, we then drove 20 miles with an 18 month old baby in tow. When we arrived, things didn't start off well as the salesman (called Steve) shouted at my husband when my husband pointed out a minor defect on the vehicle number plate mounting. Rather than indicating it would be fixed, Steve (the salesman) said it would cost hundreds of pounds to fix at a Mazda dealers and not to touch it (?!). When my husband then asked to take the car for a test drive, Steve asked us if we'd looked at any other vehicles and my husband explained that we'd seen a couple last weekend. Steve then became very irritable and rude and replied that we were obviously not real buyers and were only browsing. To avoid any confrontation in front of our little girl, we chose to walk away, despite still being interested in the car. We have never experienced such poor customer service at any garage previously and just want to warn others to be prepared to be spoken to in this manner or to avoid going there altogether. Thanks

BEWARE OF MADLEAZE CARS, GLOUCESTER.

On 21st may 2010 I paid J500 deposit on a `97 volvo v40, (full price was agreed at J1100). 150,000 miles.
6 months tax, 12 month mot, fitment of a new cambelt and a cd player was included in the price.
On 22 may the dealer phoned me and asked if I would take the remaining J600 to him so that he could "carry on and get the car ready", I told him I was not paying the balance untill I had the car, he then asked me for "some of it" and I refused. I immedeatly phoned Consumer Direct and told them that this dealer had started alarm bells and asked what my position were should my fears be founded.
Under the "sale of goods act 1979" the car has to be fit for purpose and have no mechanical defects, only usual age related defects are considered acceptable.
On 25th May I returned with the remaining J600 to collect the Volvo. Upon arrival I was told that the cambelt was to be fitted by `one of his mates` on the following Tuesday. After a discussion with Mark (the dealer) I agreed. Also I was to collect the cd player on the following day.

On driving the car home I found that the exhaust was knocking (unsecure mounting brackets) and the inside of the exhaust boxes are loose as they vibrate badly upon acceleration.The steering wanders which makes the steering wheel kind of have a mind of it`s own. Windscreen washer on f/o/s doesn't even hit the screen (it flies over the top). Either noisy wheel bearings or driveshafts. Fuel cap is a definate mot failure as it is a push in type (kind of emergency thing from Halfords).

Advisories on the mot are `anti roll bar link on on f/o/s and rear brake discs. He failed to give me the advisory notice from the mot but I phoned the mot test station and asked what the advisories were. The mot station is NTM Services, Brearley Place, Waterwells Business Park, Quedgeley, Gloucester. (Nick). He told me that he was aware of other customers complaining of faults with cars from Madleaze.
Today I intend to contact Gloucester Trading Standards with a view to returning the Volvo to the dealer and claiming a refund. I don`t hold out much hope of an amicable result but am fully prepared for this. I am also prepared to pay money to the County Court to declare this dealer bankrupt if neccesary.

Warning!!! Be careful when buying a car from this company i was sold a car with no catalytic converters cost over J2400 in investigating and fixing the problem also was told the turbo whistle which was louder enough to hear was normal its not don't let them tell you it is, if they fix a problem ask for the bill of work before you pay for the car, they told me they were fixing an engine valve but turned out to be replaceing the turbo. Which they used a re-manufactured turbo not approved by garrett so not by BMW.

WARNING! I bought a used car from these sharks this year ('09), for J1,500. Having little or no knowledge of cars I trusted their mechanic when he told me that he had checked the car over throughly & it was in tip top condition. Within 3 months of buying the car from Bensons I had to buy a new clutch and within 6 months the engine went. I had no choice but to scrap the car as Bensons refused to do anything for me and had a couldn't care less attitude towards me. I STRONGLY WARN AGAINST BUYING FROM THESE DODGY DEALERS!

Purchased a car a few months back. Rang to get a promised service carried out, all very nice on the phone, would call me back. Of course did not. Rang 4 times, wouldn't speak to me to even discuss it. Rang Head Dealer there, very amicable call, promised to investigate and get back to me, never has. Ignored my calls to him. Great example to his staff.

If you like being treated with contempt by used car salesman, this is the place for you, otherwise AVOID.

Can get equally good prices elsewhere. This now heading for County Court, but this will not excuse or punish rudeness and ignorance of the sales staff.

Avoid them at all costs

Bought a Toyota Previa (Estima) from them in June 2007. They said it would be fully cleaned, a dent at the back would be professionally sprayed, a worn seat would be replaced and radio would be changed to UK frequencies. They took my deposit and then were late in having the car ready for collection.
When I could wait no longer, I paid the remainder and took it with no work having been done to it. It looked a mess and had not been touched. 13 months later I am still waiting for them to carry out the PROMISED repairs.
Do not hand over any money to them unless the car you want is ready and in front of you.
Haroon Rashid promised me a courtesy car during repairs but now offers abuse when I call them. They do not return any calls.
Sadly, this firm is a return to the Arthur Daley school of car sales.
I have suspicions over most of the mileages on their cars as all records are in Japanese and you will not be shown the famed RAC report that they claim to carry out. Also, on every sales contract they have a clause that the mileage cannot be guaranteed - the opposite of what their sales talk and website claim.

Do yourself a favour - do not be tempted by apparent low prices and AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
They deliberately price one car cheaply and then say it is sold when customers arrive. It draws people in and then they give their comfort talk about RAC inspections, etc. Do not fall for it.
